CROMA, the Oeiras Contemporary Music Series, aims to promote and disseminate contemporary Portuguese music. For the 2026 edition, taking place from October 29 to November 1 in Oeiras, we present a program dedicated to contemporary musical creation and performance, bringing together ensembles, soloists, and musicians from various fields.
The mission of this series is to broaden the horizons and expand the boundaries of the relationship between today’s composers, performers, and audiences, fostering opportunities for encounter, reflection, and sharing through concerts, workshops, reading sessions, and roundtable discussions.
On October 29, the festival kicks off with an opening presentation at the Teatro Independente de Oeiras. The first day concludes with a roundtable discussion and a concert by the Lisbon Contemporary Music Group (GMCL).
October 30 begins with a Workshop on Writing for Electric Guitar, led by Nuno Pinto, at the Nossa Senhora do Cabo School of Music. In the afternoon, the musician will perform a solo concert. The day concludes at the Oeiras Independent Theater with a roundtable discussion and a concert by the Kairos Quartet.
On October 31, the Kairos Quartet will lead a workshop in the morning, followed by a reading session in the afternoon. The program continues with a solo concert by Phillipe Trovão and concludes with a roundtable discussion and a concert by the Concrète [Lab] Ensemble.
The CROMA Cycle concludes on November 1 with a Community Percussion Workshop led by Daniela Antunes. In the afternoon, the Ensemble Cigarra will perform in concert, and in the evening, the Lisbon Ensemble 20/21 will close the 2026 edition with a roundtable discussion and concert.
